Rooftop river views at Motorola Headquarters Chicago. Um, yeah that makes me want to take a lunch break!
I am a member of the Verizon Wireless #VZWBuzz Influencer Team. This is a #vzwbuzz post about mobile technology. All opinions are my own.
Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.
I was fortunate to be part of the team of Influencers that met recently to attend Online Mom Media’s Verizon #VZWBuzz Midwest Summit in Chicago. We had so much fun connecting and learning about the latest products, services and initiatives that Verizon is working on. One of the highlights was being gifted a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet (2014 Edition) the other was being invited to tour Motorola’s Headquarters! Boom!
This couldn’t be more perfect timing. I had just read an article and wanted to learn more about how tech companies are raising commitment and creativity levels with open offices and special perks and focusing on a more collaborative company culture. Now I was going to get to see an example first hand.
Understandably with all the research and lab work happening around us - we were limited on what we were allowed to photograph. I'm using stock images to show you some of the highlights! What a treat it was!
Motorola has a front desk in the lobby with screens featuring city scenes! Hello? The city views are amaze balls!

Digital and graffiti art, salvaged brick, two-by-fours and two-by-twos decorate and create corridors. What a cool concept to mesh natural materials with the nostalgia of Chicago's industrial roots. Sorta makes you want to get to work and enjoy the surroundings.

A hybrid game room with video games, board games, ping pong and pinball to name only a few. Some employees popped in for a mental break during our tour. Confirmation the concept works.

I lost count but I think its ten pantry/kitchens all with different themes and stocked to keep creative minds flowing. Want to meet in the Zen pantry for a break? Yes, please!

According to the designer's research they needed to "generate maximum energy". The result was open multipurpose areas and work labs to enncourage playfulness, comfort and creativity. The room below has the Chicago transit schedule on the wall. Insane. LOL

There are SO many cool things about this facility. It's funky, it's cool, it's techie and it's industrial but more than anything it's amazing! I'm excited to know that Chicago could become a hub for mobile and digital technology. Motorola headquarters is a 605,000 square foot facility on 3+ floors in Chicago's historic Merchandise Mart. Groupon is just a mile away!
The new wave of tech company perks and fun atmospheres designed to raise commitment and creativity levels are all the rage. Do you think they work?
