A sure sign of spring is getting your Little League team assignments and the green light to start practicing! Play ball!
Little League roots go back as far as the 18th century. The first organized game was played in 1939 with three teams. Today Little League has nearly 200,000 teams, in all 50 U.S. states and more than 80 countries (according to LittleLeague.org).
From sticks and taped up balls to software and apps - we've come a long way baby! As a coach 's wife you sometimes take on the responsibility of helping to make sure everyone is where they need to be and at the right time. It also comes with the occasional responsibility of keeping the stats and keeping the coaching staff informed of new tools they can use.
Here is a Big 5 list of apps to help coach, organize and have fun with your Little League team!
GameChanger is an "official" Little League® Licensed partner. THE app's coolest feature is the LIVE game updates from your web browser. Perfect if a parent is away or grandma and grandpa can't make the game! Unfortunately, GameChanger is no longer available on Android as of January 2014. The developer is focusing all their efforts on IOS.
iScore is an intuitive scorekeeping and tracking app- including pitching and batting. It even has a built in scorecaster and tweetcaster to keep fans up to date! Available for Android, iPhone or iPad. Also available for other sports.
Coaches Eye is an easy to use instant video review app that will help show your players where to make corrections needed to improve their game. Side by side and slow motion features are just a few of the way to train smarter.
The "official" 2014 Little League® Rulebook! Yeah. You will likely need one of these- now you'll have it on your smartphone! Available for all tournament divisions or individually.
Card Maker is a simple app that lets you snap a photo of your all-star and put it right into a Little League® trading card background. Of course you'll have the team photo and all that in a few weeks but with this handy app you can snap and share immediately via email or Facebook! There are over 50 designs to choose from.
